Well we had to find the front door, be advised it says entrance, but you never no. Burger was good nothing to write home about. Waitress was hard to understand. But the lady the cashed out was very nice. You must see all the 'money' on the walls from everywhere. Easy on easy off. Probably wouldn't stop again though.
The food was straight from the microwave. I ordered a veggie burger and was brought a bun with a slice of cold processed American cheese, lettuce, and some tomato...no vegee meat. I can't believe it was even on the menu! No atmosphere to speak of either. It was way overpriced for defrosted microwaved food. I won't go back for certain. The Owl Cafe in ABQ leaves this one in San Antonio looking shameful.
Not really my favorite place. The burger joint up the street I'd definitely better. However, this place is historic...
What a historic gem of an off the beaten path, rustic, and cozy restaurant. The long low windowless stucco building opens up to a long dimly lit interior richly bedecked in decades old memorabilia. From the dozens of owl figurines, to the hundreds of notes tacked to one dollar bills lining the walls, down to the wonderful authentic Mexican food, The Owl restaurant provided us with an exceptional dining experience.
Heard about this place for about a year, so finally decided to try it on our way to Truth or Consequences from visiting my girlfriends family in Albuquerque. I was very disappointed. Nothing at all stood out from this green chillie cheeseburger. I travel alot for work and try to eat at local establishments. The service was the only thing good in my opion. The world famous Burger was small on a soggy bun, with no flavor in the green chile, and overpriced at $7.00 just for the burger. I would have rather got a green chile cheeseburger from Blakes or even gone to Burger King. Being from Texas I eat burgers all the time. It was ok but so is McDonald's. I was hoping for a world famous Burger to call and tell someone about. I wish I could say it was just a bad experience but I don't think it was just one case considering the guy in the booth next to me was very dissatisfied as well. As I said the service was good and the atmosphere was fun. The food just lacked flavor and size.
